Sarah Aswell is a writer and comedian who arrived in Montana in 2004 to earn her MFA in creative writing at the University of Montana. Currently the Special Projects Editor at Scary Mommy, her writing has appeared in places like The New Yorker, USA Today, Forbes, Vice, McSweeney’s, National Lampoon, Mad Magazine, and others. An alum of HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival and the Big Sky Comedy Festival, Thrillist recently named her one of the Best Unknown Comedians in America, which is one of those compliments that’s also kind of an insult. She lives in Missoula with her two girls, where she runs Revival Comedy, an organization focused on increasing the representation of historically marginalized groups on the stand-up stage.
