GLASS FUSING

FIELD TRIP DETAILS

TYPE: GLASS FUSING
TOTAL TIME: 2 HOURS
TOTAL COST: VARIED
$50 Field Trip Fee + Cost of Glass*

(TOTAL COST, EXAMPLE: Each glass piece has a cost of $5 for 1st square inch + $2 each additional square inch. For example, a piece of glass that is 2”x2” costs $11. If there are 15 students in attendance and they all make a 2”x2” glass piece, the cost would be $50 + (15 X $11) = $215)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Participants will be given instructions and materials needed to create a piece of fused glass art!

Participants will map out some possible designs using paper and crayon/colored pencils/markers and will have a brief “critique” where they will work to determine which design they like best and why. Participants will then recreate their chosen design with the provided glass materials.

IMPORTANT: Please note participants will not be able to leave with their creations on the same day. Pieces will need to be loaded into the kiln and fired. Field trip coordinators can expect pieces to be ready within approximately two weeks of field trip date.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Please note that materials used in glass fusing require some caution as they are fragile, and can be very sharp.
  • To help us adequately prepare for your field trip, we ask that you please provide the approximate total number of participants and their ages prior to the date of the trip.
  • Items created during field trip will need to be picked up from the ZACC at a later date. Please feel free to call and inquire about the status of your pottery, as the ZACC will not call when items have been fired.
  • Field trip fee is due at time of booking, remaining balance due no later than booking date.
