Beginning Intaglio Printmaking
Tuesdays // July 13 - August 24 // 5:30-7:30 PM // Taught in-person in the ZACC Print Shop // Teacher Zoë Erickson // $125 // Registration Required // Open to all experience levels!

Intaglio is a general term for methods of printmaking in which ink is transferred to paper via lines incised in the surface of a printing plate (such as copper or plastic). Damp paper is pushed through a printing press and the pressure allows the paper to absorb the ink sitting below the surface of the plate. This course will introduce students to simple intaglio techniques and guide them through making their own plates and original print editions. Open to students of any experience level.

REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR STUDENTS
Box of disposable plastic gloves
High quality printmaking-specific paper (preferably one made for etching)
Tarlatan — about a yard or two
Copper plate — at least one, roughly 6”x8”

OPTIONAL MATERIALS FOR STUDENTS
Etching needle (if you want your own)
Extra printmaking paper for practice, larger editions, etc.
Copper, zinc, or plastic plates for more printing
