The ZACC is excited to present work by current University of Montana School of Art student Rhiannon R. Reddoor.

In Rhiannon's words: "My artwork displayed is the culmination of my art school years. My intention is to showcase my journey throughout mediums and subjects, finding what felt important to express and talk about. We never usually get to see the behind the curtains or what's been left behind and thrown away. These years shaped me and helped me cultivate the direction of my art. So before I go, I wish to celebrate this finding of oneself. It’s messy, it doesn’t always fit together but there is a revelation towards the end that will be apparent.

With the different mediums you’ll be able to see the ways my art changes to suit it or what I keep the same throughout. You’ll see what I’m more equipped at and what my pitfalls are. The changes and improvement. The subjects I gravitate towards, the serious impactful ones and the cathartic interests that are entertaining. My cultural identity as a Native American woman takes more of a spotlight to what I make but there are times where indulging in interests such as horror or gothic literature creates some unique pieces.

Truthfully, I didn’t want to be tied down by a central theme and showing this intimate discovery felt more genuine to what I’ve been going through. It’s not polished, but it’s truthful. Selling this image of myself as always put together and knowing what I’ll make next is dishonest. It’s a difficult time creating so I’d like to show you it’s okay to not have it all figured out and that you’ll eventually come into your own within time."
