JUNE 2026: 1ST CHARACTER SHOW
LANDON ZAPATA ARTIST STATEMENT
"My artwork is heavily influenced by music, specifically new generation rap music and artists. I’m moved by deep lyrics from artists like Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem. The fashion shown in my work stems from artists like Tyler, The Creator and other trends that are often seen in mainstream rap. I draw inspiration from childhood cartoons like Spongebob which influences the bright colors I use. My artwork includes bright colors and hidden messages to create a story and add depth behind the characters. My pieces are first sketched with graphite then traced with micron pens. The drawing is then finished using alcohol based markers."
The ZACC Youth Gallery hosts Gallery Openings every month on Fridays, usually First Friday, from 5-8 PM. The gallery is located on the first floor of the ZACC, outside the Show Room, and serves as inspiration as it looks over those participating in our Youth Interactive Area.
