In the Youth Gallery through April

On April 12, 2010, EmpowerMT’s youth leaders helped extend protection against discrimination to LGTBQ+ community members under Missoula’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance. Since then, the second Saturday in April has been declared Diversity Day to commemorate that youth-led victory, honor the impact of youth engagement, and celebrate Missoula’s enriching Diversity. To honor this anniversary, this year youth leaders from EmpowerMT are partnering with the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) to elevate youth wellness, connection, and resilience through art and expression. Local youth will be participating in Art Activism Workshops led by Delaney Wascherol on Saturday, March 19 & March 26 at the ZACC – and creating art in response to the themes: youth wellness, connection, and resilience which will be shown in the Youth Gallery in April – opening Second Friday, April 8 from 5-8 PM in the ZACC Youth Gallery.
