Make a wreath with found natural specimens! Before this class, take a hike or head to your yard with a canvas bag, garden shears, and an eye for the beauty in your surroundings. Collect items like rose hips, fallen pine branches (bonus if pine cones are still attached), pine cones, seed pods on the stem, and fresh pine, spruce, or fir boughs. I’ll also be drying my own citrus slices in the oven prior to the workshop. Thinly sliced citrus dries easily on a cookie sheet in 2 to 2 ½ hours in a 200 degree oven, and how-tos abound online (see below). In order to assemble a wreath out of your gathered natural elements, you’ll need the following items: a wreath round (metal or natural), pruners, scissors or wire cutters, a spool of floral wire, and ribbon if desired.
