Our Mission

Cultivating community through accessible arts experiences for all.

Ceramics is for Lovers

Ceramics is for Lovers

With my twenty or so years of experience, I can say with full confidence that ceramics is the most sensual visual art form. With pottery, the viewer is encouraged to touch and embrace the work; even put it to their mouth. Even how the parts of a piece of pottery are described (foot, neck, shoulder, belly, lip) are references to the human body, and reflect how intimate the experience is.

February harbors Valentine’s Day, a holiday that celebrates love (traditionally love for a significant other, but here at the ZACC we also celebrate self-love and singlehood). Unfortunately, the commercialization of this holiday sometimes causes us to lose sight on an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful human emotion. This year, rather than buying candy or roses grown in the Amazon, why not demonstrate your love through art by making something for your partner at the ZACC’s Paint Your Own Pottery studio? Or, even better, bring your beloved into the ZACC and make something beautiful together.

We believe in the power of the arts to create the human connections, innovations, and healing to make significant positive change in our world and our community, and the ZACC’s programs serving youth, veterans, families, and seniors are on the forefront of that change.
