lso Open Late on First Friday\, September 6\, 5-8 PM (Yes! During River Ci
ty Roots!) \n\nThe ZACC is proud to present Home\, works by Erika Peterman
\, Disa Doherty\, & Gunnar Doherty\, in the Main Gallery throughout Septem
ber. Works are available for purchase\, and the artists will be present at
the opening reception. \n\nABOUT THE ART \n'You're only at home if you l
ove yourself.' – Gunnar\, 13.  \n\nReflecting a place where we can be ours
elves – and the desire to create a space where others can be – all of the
images were created by my kids and me at our home in Missoula\, where we h
ave grown together for the last 20 years. Working with Western Sensibility
to print on textiles as well as glass\, tile\, and wood found at Home Res
ource\, these combined works represent our creative lives at home\, both i
n our backyard and in our community\, and our commitment to placing creati
vity at the center of both. \n\nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\nERIKA PETERMAN \nAs
a creative and professional photographer\, my portfolio is diverse\, capt
uring the tension between my deep desire for solitude and my love of peopl
e and portraits. I've had the privilege of photographing figures like U.S.
Senator Jon Tester\, President Joe Biden\, and Justice Sandra Day O’Conno
r\, as well as exploring the natural world with images of whale sharks in
Baja\, arctic foxes in Iceland\, and vast landscapes wherever I can find t
hem. My backyard is my favorite place to be\, and these images reflect bot
h the light I experience daily and my deep gratitude for having a loving\,
creative home.  \n\nDISA DOHERTY \nI started taking art classes at the ZA
CC when it first opened and have been creating for the last 17 years\, app
reciating the quiet it brings to my mind. Recently\, my design studies hav
e deepened my appreciation for creative perspectives\, and I enjoy the cha
llenge of reworking and reorganizing artistic ideas. Collage\, in particul
ar\, allows me to blend my love for the revision process found in design w
ith a more artistic approach to perspective. That said\, I find joy in all
  art forms. \n\nGUNNAR DOHERTY \nFor over a decade\, I have found solace a
nd purpose in drawing\, loving every second my pencil is on the paper. Rec
ently\, drawing has become a refuge\, helping me navigate dark times and c
hallenging moments\, often in ways I didn’t realize until much later. My a
rt reflects my perception of the world – a world where many are too consum
ed by their own lives to look up and truly see. So often distracted\, peop
le feel threatened by the unfamiliar when they finally do look beyond them
selves. Through my art\, I depict the guardians of creativity\, those who
protect our curiosity and encourage us to step outside our comfort zones\,
seeking genuine connection in a world increasingly focused on screens and
  self-preservation.
