X-WR-CALDESC:Gallery Opening on First Friday\, January 5\, 5-8 PM \nExhibit
ing in the Blackfoot Communications Gallery through the end of January \n
\nThe ZACC presents ‘House Paint’\, works by Frankie McCormick\, in the Bl
ackfoot Communications Gallery. This show opens on January 5 and exhibits
throughout January. Works are available for purchase using the link below\
, and the artist will be present at the opening reception. \n\nABOUT THE A
RT \n'I've rented in Missoula for eight years and have moved eight times--
five of those moves occurred in the past three years. This is a collection
of work made while searching for housing\, but more importantly an explor
ation of defining what I call home. This is not a collection about the Mis
soula housing crisis\, but a result of it all the same. This is a collecti
on created while searching for a home. The seemingly constant shuffle of m
y belongings has only solidified in my mind that home is not a place of st
orage but a place from which to create in. With that in mind\, home has be
en every piece of work in this gallery. Welcome to my living room\, kitche
n\, this is my roommate over here...and the backyard is my favorite! Oh\,
and don't worry about taking your shoes off. Welcome to my home.' \n\nABO
UT THE ARTIST \nFrankie McCormick (they/them) is from Missoula and graduat
ed with a BFA from the University of Montana. Frankie will always call Mis
soula home regardless of their status on a lease\, wherever their belongin
gs reside\, or where they sleep at night. Their struggle to maintain housi
ng in Missoula is not unique and would have resulted in houselessness on f
our separate occasions if it wasn't for the privilege of having a family a
 nd community support network here.
