 Brown & Kim Brown Campbell\nOpening on First Friday\, May 7\, 5-8 PM\, in
the Blackfoot Communications Gallery through May \nBrowse and shop online
via our Virtual Gallery beginning Tuesday\, May 11 at https://www.zootowna
 rts.org/shows-events/galleries/virtual-main-gallery.html\n\nIn Kim’s words
: \n\n“Sometimes\, not knowing why something comes about is the best catal
yst for making it come to fruition … Also through this process\, I have de
termined that much of artmaking is really about deep intense questions\, t
 hought\, and in this case\, mourning.\n\nOn September 2\, 2020\, my only s
ibling’s life came to a sad end. Eleven years my junior\, Ginny was a shin
ing star in my life. We loved each other to pieces even though we lived ac
ross country from one another (me in Missoula and she in Greensboro\, NC).
I want everyone to know that she died of a drug overdose of Fentanyl and
Cocaine because it is important to not stigmatize this ongoing epidemic in
our country. However\, I know there is far more to this sisterly love sto
ry than words can ever come close to conveying. I\, on my own since Septem
ber\, have been working on this show to tell our story. I hope you see it
as a detailed and empathic process involving telling her important story t
hrough art as only art can deliver.”\n\n\nKim\, sister and art therapist\,
has used this process primarily to deal with the death of Ginny\, to comm
unicate to her after death through art\, and to grieve.\n\nGinny created t
his art throughout her life. She was such an intuitive artist that kept cr
eating through all the hard times of drug addiction\, mental illness\, and
trauma. She used art in the same way I do and both of us in many of the s
ame ways I do with the people I treat in art therapy. I want to share the
collective and re-creative process to show you her talent and love through
our combined creativity and expression.\n\nPieces are labeled as either G
inny\, Kim\, or as collaborative. Our mother and I dubbed her “The Sleepin
g Fox” after her death in honor of a peaceful image we have of her now and
her beloved favorite wild animal. She is my sleeping fox now.\n
