CULTIVATING COMMUNITY THROUGH ACCESSIBLE ARTS EXPERIENCES FOR ALL

A World of New Possibilities

Hello friends of the ZACC! And thank you to the board and staff for the exceptionally warm welcome.

I'm writing this newsletter blog at the end of April, a few days before my official start date on the first day of May. My children just got home (I have a kindergartener and a preschooler), the weather is gorgeous in that daffodils and sunbeams way that feels specific to Missoula after a long winter, and I'm looking at a future focused on art and community building. I find myself asking, is this ... is this for real? It feels magical. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement about the opportunity to contribute to the great big world of 'what's possible at the ZACC'.

As someone who has always been passionate about the arts, I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Executive Director. With my background in writing, theatre, and film, I have a deep appreciation for the creative process and have benefited from the arts in ways that have been far reaching and essential to both my professional and spiritual life. I believe it's incredibly important to have spaces where artists and art lovers alike feel a sense of belonging, and can come together to share their passion. The ZACC plays a vital role in a thriving Missoula, and in Montana more broadly, and I look forward to working with the team to further its mission and increase its influence.

Exactly how? I don't know yet. There is so much I don't know, and so many possibilities in front of us as an organization. The one thing I'm sure of is that this next chapter starts with listening. Deep listening, and dialogue between the staff, board, and all of you. If we do it right, this listening mission will never end. The ZACC's staff and board have worked hard to make it an extraordinary place, and I'm excited to begin working with them to build a shared vision for the future. Your voices will be an integral part of that vision, and we will keep you updated on progress every step of the way.

I can't wait to meet every one of you and learn more about your vision for the ZACC.

Thank you for your support,

Caitlin
