Summer is a magical time at the ZACC. Our visual and performing arts camps of all kinds draw hundreds of children into our space each year, all bursting with energy and ready to create and express themselves. We can’t wait to hear the new songs our Rock Campers write, take new clay creations out of the kiln, watch what the kids dream up for adult actors at this year’s Yes Fest, see kids’ first screenprints, read this year’s Comic Camp issue, laugh at Missoula’s newest stand-up comedians, and so much more. Summertime is indeed a perfectly busy time at the ZACC, teeming with so much creative energy that it’s sometimes hard to describe to those who haven’t seen it for themselves … so, we’re inviting you to come see it for yourself!
As was the case prior to 2020, the public is again invited to every camp performance this summer – whether it be Rock Camp, Comedy Camp, Rap Camp, Yes Fest, or any number of other camps. Nearly all our camp performances take place on Fridays at 4 PM in the ZACC Show Room, and are free to attend.* Come watch these incredible youngsters give it their all onstage, and support them in their journey of creativity and self-expression. In our eyes, these performances are always some of the best of the year, so don’t miss out.
We also have a number of visual arts camps with publicly displaying work this summer. Check out our Stop Motion Animation Camp’s animated videos on the Zootown Arts YouTube Channel, dropping in late June and late August. Visit the alley behind the ZACC in early July to view the newest addition to our ever-growing ‘art alley’ – a mural by this year’s summer camp kids! And head over to the Western Montana Fair to the Creative Reuse Division Exhibition, to see building materials repurposed as art and useful objects, created by our own ZWAP Campers (ZWAP stands for Zero Waste Ambassador Program and is a partnership with Home Resource, Inc.). We can’t wait to see what the kids create, and would love for you to see it too.
