The ZACC Printshop offers the space and supplies to accomplish silk-screening, relief printing, and intaglio printing. Our Printshop houses a Laguna Etching Press with a 26" x 48" bedplate, a Craftsman Machine Co "Monarch" Letter Press. In order to use the printshop we do require either one-on-one walkthroughs with our Printshop Manager or a 5-week printmaking course.

A print is, fundamentally, any image which can be reproduced. Traditionally, prints are viewed as images produced from plates, blocks, screens or stones. Plates, block, screens and stones are intermediary surfaces. The picture, design, or message is carved, incised or etched into these surfaces. In screen printing different techniques are used to create, what is basically, a large stencil. The image receives ink and the inked image is transferred to paper using pressure. Pressure is applied using a printing press, through hand burnishing or, in the case of screen printing, with a squeegee. These basic printmaking process can be repeated, producing nearly exact copies.
The ZACC Printshop focuses on empowering you to do it yourself! Three types of printmaking are fully accessible to you at the ZACC Print Shop including silk-screening, intaglio, and relief printing. Print is not solely a drawing but a work of art conceived within the limitations and capabilities of the medium. It is on the metal plate, limestone or block of wood that the creative act is realized, then transferred to paper. Each impression of paper is an individual work of art.
