AMP (Alternative Music Project)

The AMP (Alternative Music Project) is program under the ZACC whose mission is to provide all-ages music education, shows, and experiences. Please help us in thanking the supporters of AMP. For individuals who need assistance with the costs for enrolling in classes we offer scholarships. Be familiar with our cancellation policies.

Monday, April 3, 2017 - 4:00pm

In this camp, girls and boys will build self esteem through music exploration. Regardless of musical experience, campers will receive instrument instruction, form a band, write an original song, and perform at Family Friendly Friday at the Top Hat Lounge. Boys and girls will also learn about music history, attend song-writing clinics, talk about stage presence, create flyers for their upcoming show, design a band logo and screen T-shirts, and more.

Monday, June 12, 2017 - 10:00am

In this camp, boys & girls will build self-esteem together through music exploration. Regardless of musical experience, campers will receive instrument instruction, form a band, write an original song, and perform at Family Friendly Friday on June 16th at the Top Hat Lounge. 

All supplies and musical equipment provided.

They will form a band, write an original song, and perform at Family Friendly Friday, June 30th, at the Top Hat Lounge.

Monday, July 10, 2017 - 1:00pm

How do they get that sound? Come find out! Campers will learn about instrument set-up, amplifiers, effects, microphones and more. The best way to learn is by doing and exploring. This camp features a field trip the the Top Hat Lounge for a live soundcheck and is taught by local professionals. Want to feel more confident in a music store? Not sure if you like tube or solid state amplifiers? Come try them out, learn how they work, and gain the confidence to set up your own band!

Monday, July 17, 2017 - 9:00am

In this camp kids will create a radio ad, make a radio drama, meet local musicians, sound artists and even special guests from the world of Missoula radio. Learn how to make sound effects, review music, record and edit sound. 

Monday, July 24, 2017 - 10:00am

Drop the beat and rhyme! In this camp, campers will learn about Hip-Hop history and culture, write an original song, and perform at the Top Hat for Family Friendly Friday July 28th. They will also make t-shirts and flyers, experience a breakdancing performance and talkback, discuss beat creation, song structure, and more.
