Call for Board Members

The ZACC is looking for creative, passionate, and strong community leaders to serve as volunteer board members. You must be willing to devote your time and energy to this dynamic and growing organization to help further our mission to deliver all ages arts education, foster sustainable community development, and promote accessible, life-enriching art experiences. We're especially looking for individuals with financial experience, communications/marketing background, donor development, or previous board experience.

Role of a Board member

To provide leadership, governance, and oversight to the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) in order to assure that the public's interest are met and the mission fulfilled.

The ZACC is looking for creative, passionate, and strong community leaders to serve as volunteer board members. You must be willing to devote your time and energy to this dynamic and growing organization to help further our mission to deliver all ages arts education, foster sustainable community development, and promote accessible, life-enriching art experiences. We're especially looking for individuals with financial experience, communications/marketing background, donor development, or previous board experience.

Expectations/Responsibilities:

  1. Be present for monthly board meetings in Missoula
  2. Volunteer at various ZACC events throughout the year, including our Annual Mini Show benefit
  3. Actively participate in an annual strategic/operational planning process to set goals for achieving the organization's vision, mission, and purpose.
  4. Demonstrate leadership by adhering to the highest standards of ethical actions in decision-making and by financially supporting the organization at a level that is personally significant.
  5. Enhance the organization's public standing by promoting the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public.
  6. Ensure that the appropriate organizational structures are in place to support mission and strategic plan; this includes bylaws, policies, and committees.
  7. Provide proper financial oversight by assisting in the development of an annual budget, approving the budget, assuring that proper financial controls are in place, and regular review spending and organizational accounts.
  8. Ensure that adequate financial resources are available by assisting in the development of an annual fundraising plan, approving the plan, and supporting fundraising efforts through individual volunteer action and personal giving.
  9. Select, evaluate, and support the Executive Director.
  10. Recruit and train board members, assess board performance, and ensure that individual board members fulfill their commitments.
  11. Serve as chair or member on at least one Committee.
  12. Commit to at least one 2-year board term, with possibility of extension.
  13. Maintain an individual or family membership to the ZACC during board term.
  14. Passion for the cause. 
  15. Willingness to devote time to board duties, roles, and responsibilities as outlined above.
  16. Ability to attend board and planning meetings.
  17. Availability to serve on one Standing Committee and volunteer in other capacities as needed.
  18. Willingness to be a team member and dedicate the time necessary to become familiar with the purpose, operations, plans, and programs of the ZACC.
  19. Open mindedness and commitment to making the best decision for the whole organization.
  20. Ability to keep confidential information confidential.
  21. Disclosure of any and all conflict of interest.
  22. Willingness to speak with one voice.
